Mr.JJ Mediterranean grill

Our first time at this gem was amazing. Run by a father and his two teenage kids with wonderful hospitality. Free chicken veggie soup is available for everyone. He also feeds the needy and one had a full dinner while we were there. Very kind owner. We ordered the mixed grill and the lam shank. The food was literally amazing with robust flavors. It is all fresh home made to order by the chef who is the owner. It was a wonderful first time dining there and definitely would not be the last. Can’t wait for the next time

Easily the best mediterranean in the area. Amazing service, best meal I’ve had in Louisville every time I go. I lived in Chicago for 8 years and miss the Mediterranean options, but this place is better than all of them.

Absolutely divine! The chicken and beef at this spot are nothing short of sensational—perfectly seasoned, tender, and bursting with rich, decadent flavor. Without a doubt, this is the finest mashawi (Mediterranean grilled meats) you’ll find in Louisville. The chef/owner clearly takes immense pride in his craft, meticulously selecting only the highest quality ingredients and masterfully combining them to create dishes that are nothing less than extraordinary. Each bite is an explosion of flavor that leaves you craving more. I simply cannot get enough of this place—it’s a true gem for any food lover!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I cant express how good the food was! My husband and i are self proclaimed foodies from Houston and this is by far the best mediterranean food we’ve had. JJ m, the owner is the most nicest and humble human i have met. You can tell he cooks from the heart and truly loves what he does. Cannot wait to pass through town and eat here again.

VERY delicious food!! Some of the best Mediterranean food I’ve had. Super creamy and smooth hummus, awesome Baba ganoush and falafel, and honestly, the best of those 3 in town! Plentiful portions and fresh food each time. The grilled tortilla with JJ’s red sauce is a must! I’ve been here twice with my husband, and the second time we brought friends. The chicken shawarma wrap and lamb Gyro are also among our favorite items. Mr. JJ himself checks on you to make sure everything is satisfactory and you feel like family. I look forward to our next visit!

The service we received here was out of this world. You immediately felt like you walked into your family's house for dinner. There was a free soup that was delicious and hot. Free coffee and a cold water tank. When I paid I was completely surprised that I wasn't asked to give a tip instead there was a box asking for tips to feed the poor. The food was halal, excellent in taste and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back. I strongly suggest you visit this place.

This Mediterranean restaurant truly embodies the essence of authentic cuisine. The meat shawarma platter, featuring tender lamb, was an absolute highlight - the spices were expertly balanced and elevated the dish to new heights. The service was top-notch, with the owner/chef taking the time to personally check in on us multiple times. A lovely touch was the complimentary soup appetizer, which was delicious and set the tone for the meal. Having heard great things about this place beforehand, I can confidently say that those reviews were understatements - this restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic and exceptional dining experience.

JJ’s Mediterranean Grill has been on my “must try” list for a while. I saw this little gem on Louisville foodie social media groups and was intrigued by the reviews. Time after time, people raved about the owner, the food, and how the restaurant always has a fresh pot of homemade, sustaining, nutrient rich soup available at no extra cost for customers, and for free to anyone struggling with housing or food insecurity. I came to try it tonight for the first time with a foodie buddy of mine. I am a lifelong customer after only one meal here. The chef, JJ, is so warm and kind. The young man working the front register was sweet, efficient, and unbothered by my barrage of questions pertaining to vegan choices. Hailing all vegans: we can EAT here, y’all. There are many options for dairy free, gluten free, vegetarian, or meat eaters. Chef JJ is careful about honoring those with food allergies or specific dietary lifestyles. He even changes gloves, utensils, etc for vegans or those with an allergy. My friend and I split a vegetarian sampler, hummus, and an extra salad. Every single bite was an explosion of flavor. I got so excited to eat I forgot to take pictures of everything. So sorry! I don’t know what Chef JJ puts in his magic green marinade that sits atop the hummus, but it is religious. There is a large glass case up front full of homemade desserts, lovingly crafted by his wife. My friend and I both ordered more food to take home because everything was so delicious. Chef JJ doesn’t even take tips. He pays his staff and sets out an optional tip box; all donations go to the homeless. I can’t believe this beautiful place has been here this whole time and I am just now trying it. Don’t walk, run. JJ’s is the place to go. Thank you, chef and staff, this was an amazing experience.
